Tibet Tours

Embark on a journey to the "Roof of the World," a land where ancient spirituality meets the raw majesty of the Himalayas. Tibet offers more than just sightseeing; it’s a soul-stirring experience that takes you through sun-drenched monasteries, turquoise holy lakes, and the awe-inspiring North Face of Mount Everest. Whether you are drawn by the rhythmic chants of monks in Lhasa or the silent grandeur of the plateau’s high-altitude wilderness, our Tibet tours are designed to immerse you in the authentic heart of this mystical land.

Navigating the complexities of Tibet travel—from securing the necessary permits to managing high-altitude acclimatization—requires expert planning. We offer a diverse range of itineraries, including classic small-group tours, private photography expeditions, and sacred pilgrimages to Mount Kailash. By blending cultural depth with seamless logistics, we ensure that your Tibetan odyssey is not only breathtaking but also safe, comfortable, and deeply respectful of the local heritage.

Tibet Travel FAQs

* Everything You Need to Know *

Q1: Do I need a special permit to visit Tibet?expand_more
A: Yes. All foreign travelers need a Tibet Travel Permit (TTB) in addition to a Chinese Visa. You cannot apply for this permit individually; it must be handled by a licensed travel agency. We provide a guaranteed permit service for all our tour guests.
Q2: How do I get to Tibet? By flight or train?expand_more
A: You can enter Tibet via flight or the high-altitude Qinghai-Tibet Railway from major Chinese cities like Chengdu, Beijing, or Xi'an. Flying is faster, while the train offers stunning plateau scenery and a gradual ascent, though it does not fully prevent altitude sickness.
Q3: Can I travel to Tibet independently (solo)?expand_more
A: According to current regulations, international tourists cannot travel independently in Tibet. You must book a pre-arranged tour with a licensed agency and be accompanied by a professional tour guide. However, you can choose a private tour for more flexibility and privacy.
Q4: Is altitude sickness a major concern?expand_more
A: While most travelers experience mild symptoms like headaches or shortness of breath, serious illness is rare if you follow a proper acclimatization schedule. Our itineraries include 2-3 days in Lhasa to help you adjust before heading to higher altitudes like Everest Base Camp.
Q5: When is the best time to book a Tibet tour?expand_more
A: The "Golden Season" is from April to June and September to October. These months offer the clearest skies and most comfortable temperatures. July and August are also popular but are the monsoon season and can be more crowded.
Q6: What is the food and accommodation like in Tibet?expand_more
A: In major cities like Lhasa and Shigatse, we provide 3-star to 5-star hotels with modern amenities (some even have oxygen-enriched rooms). In remote areas like Everest Base Camp or Mount Kailash, lodgings are basic guesthouses. Food options range from traditional Tibetan cuisine to Chinese and Western dishes.
Q7: Can I visit Tibet from Nepal?expand_more
A: Yes! You can fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa or travel overland via the Gyirong Port. Please note that entering Tibet from Nepal requires a Group Tourist Visa issued by the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, regardless of whether you already have a standard Chinese Visa.
Q8: What currency is used in Tibet, and can I use credit cards?expand_more
A: The Chinese Yuan (CNY/RMB) is the official currency. While major hotels and large shops in Lhasa accept credit cards and digital payments (Alipay/WeChat Pay), we strongly recommend carrying some cash for small shops, rural areas, and tips for your guide and driver.
